For almost 200 years, Bally has shaped the land and people of Niederamt. For decades, Schönenwerd and the surrounding area lived to the rhythm of the Bally factory siren.

That is history. But the "Kingdom of Bally", which offered workers and employees a place to live and work in the immediate vicinity, has left its mark on the village, and not just with first-class architecture such as the Kosthaus (1919) by Karl Moser. Archives, machines and a unique shoe collection bear witness to a long industrial history. The legacy also includes an enormous wealth of documents, pictures, photographs, promotional items and products. Collections, archives, machines, gardens and buildings together form one of the most complete documentations of industrial history in Switzerland.
