The historic landscape park will surprise you with its Aare landscape, the pile dwellings and its English-style park. In the park, you will discover ponds and canals in a natural landscape, with pagodas and grottos. The miniature pile dwellings in the park are unique in Europe.
The Bally Park is long and narrow and lies between the course of the Aare and the railroad line. It was laid out at the end of the 19th century and represents a piece of Swiss industrial history. And this is how it came about: The shoe manufacturer Carl Franz Bally began to improve the marshy land near Schönenwerd in 1868. He built a commercial canal on the reclaimed land to power the company's own power station. Between this canal and the railroad line, Bally had a park created where his workers could relax. The result was an industrial landscape that was considered modern and social in the late 19th century: factory halls, factory owners' villas, workers' houses, a boarding house and a park for recreation.
All in all, Bally Park is a symbiosis of idyllic landscape, idealized past and industrial present. The park right next to the River Aare also offers beautiful motifs for amateur photographers.
